Wilson’s designWorks is my freelance design business. I started WDW in November 2008 after successfully starting my freelance career. As a freelancer I have continued to work on a similar variety of projects similar to what I’ve done in the past. I’ve also done contract for for Safeco Insurance, McCartney Multimedia and Akona Consulting. And, have a growing client list as well.

October 2006 - October 2007
In October 2006, I left Seattle to start traveling. On December 16, I flew to Europe and spent the next 10 months in Western Europe and took a three-week side-trip to Southern Africa. It’s been the most amazing experience in my life and will change me forever. So, it’s a part of who I am and will influence the way I work and how I relate to people, and also explains a year-long gap in employment which is why I include this in my resume. Traveling is as important to a person’s background as anything else I can think of.

Graphic Designer, March 2002 - July 2006
My position primarily focused on the graphic design and layout of marketing collateral, internal and external communications and web graphics for both domestic, international and third-party use. I worked in the “Creative Services Department” which functioned as an in-house creative agency. My position involved coordinating work, deadlines and schedules on a daily basis with other graphic designers, copy writers, marketing communications managers (our “clients”), print production personnel and event specialists. I was also involved in web related corporate brand and style training of external vendors and FNET employees. I designed and produced the majority of graphic content on the www.flukenetworks.com web site.

Graphic Designer, February 2000 - February 2002
Graphic design, layout, production, translation coordination and printing of all domestic and international marketing collateral and other materials. Responsible for choosing print vendors, quoting and assigning print jobs to chosen vendors. Microtest was acquired by Fluke Networks in 2001.

Senior Web Designer, September 1997 - November 1999
Web graphic design, layout, production and web site development for corporate, direct marketing and e-commerce clients. Worked directly with clients to guage needs, budget and time constraints. Coordinated with other designers and back-end development team to implement necessary coding, database integration and site functionality.
